Lil green sedanIt fit perfectly in the palm of her hand; it might have been the size of a cherry or a peanut; plastic, something you could find on the ground and not even notice as you walked by. It was a gift from the shoe store, and she held it like a treasure.
Together, they waited on the sidewalk, sheltered under the dark green and black leaves of the quiet maple trees, trees as young as her, but seeming like to tower over her. And the library was close by. So, the library, shoe store, and speckled sidewalk became her world.
